Thank you for visiting the Trinity United Methodist Church website. We pray that you will find the information you are seeking and that you find our website informative and easy to navigate.
Trinity is a historic church that has a history in the Sumter Community that dates back to 1827. The building we now occupy was built in 1962 to replace the church building that burned to the ground in 1960.
Trinity, while an old church is a strong and viable congregation made up of a diverse group of people. The congregation is represented by a wide range of ages, and unlike many churches is growing through young families and families with teenagers. The programming is diverse and designed to meet the current needs of the congregation and the community. Mission is an important part of what we do and we offer opportunities for children and adults of all ages to participate in mission projects.
Trinity United Methodist Church strives to serve the community of Sumter County, the City of Sumter, Shaw Air Force Base, Third Army Headquarters, the greater world and certainly our church community in incarnational and transformational ways. It is our belief that God has a calling for each and every one of us and it is our goal to discover our gifts and then use them to put a face on Christ in the community and to help transform lives for Christ.
If you are looking for a new church home or are just visiting the area we encourage you to come and visit with us. If you like you can visit during the week and we would be happy to show you our facilities.
